Landis pulls out of Giro d'Italia

Tour de France hopeful Floyd Landis will not compete in May's Giro d'Italia as part of his preparation to bid for the yellow jersey in July.

Paris-Nice winner Landis, ninth overall in last year's Tour, will spend May riding some of the key stages before racing the Dauphine Libere in June.

"It's better that Floyd has a more relaxed approach to the Tour," said his Phonak team manager Lelangue.

"But we will be sending a competitive team to the Giro."
